A Scoping Review of Voxel-Model Applications to Enable Multi-Domain Data Integration in Architectural Design and Urban Planning

Although voxel models have been applied to address diverse problems in computer-aided design processes, their role multi-domain data integration digital architecture and planning has not extensively studied. The primary objective of this study is map the current state art identify open questions concerning structuring, integration, modeling multi-scale objects systems architecture. Focus placed on types that are linked with models. This utilizes a semi-systematic literature review methodology combines scoping narrative examine different uses done across range disciplines, including architecture, spatial planning, computer vision, geomatics, geosciences, manufacturing, mechanical civil engineering. Voxel-model applications can be found studies addressing generative design, material science computational morphogenesis. A targeted convergence these approaches lead integrative, holistic, data-driven approaches. We present (1) summary systematization research results reported novel manner, (2) identification gaps voxel-based structures for trans-scalar architectural urban (3) any further questions.
